When someone Googles you, what do they find? Well, it’s entirely possible that they’ll first find your address and telephone number, unless you have requested to have it removed. There are probably other Google results where your name has appeared in publications or forums, too. One thing that will show up if you want it to, something you have total control over, is your Google profile. On your Google profile, you get a chance to put your picture, your biography, links you want to share (a great chance to promote your blog or other website), your contact information in both email and social media, and just about anything you want to present to the world as “you.” In addition, you can decide who gets to see the contact information by creating groups of “family,” “friends,” “coworkers,” as well as the usual contacts and chat contacts you already have. Your profile will be used when you create content on Google products such as Google Maps. Centrally managed, your Google profile is your “face” on the internet, at least when you’re in Google territory.
I told you we’re getting closer to being able to just log into Google and let it take care of everything for us. Struggling against the current will probably not work. I’m going to relax and see where Google takes me next.

You do a great job simplifying what Google profile is all about. I’ve never even heard of it ’til now. It seems like an all around useful resource, especially if someone wants to link their online profile (in a high ranking search) to specific information–blog/ business/ collection of photos, etc. Thanks for sharing this resource.
I like the idea of the Google profile too. I don’t currently have a lot of time to do social media (although I know I need to), but at least I can have a Google profile filled out and add to it as I have things to share.
