As a freelancer, one of your biggest obstacles is ensuring that all your clients are invoiced as needed. You will find that there are a large selection of invoicing apps available, but finding the one that fits your needs best can take some time. These amazing invoicing apps for freelancers can help you create and send invoices easily, so that you are free to work more and spend less time creating invoices.
- PayPal: PayPal is the number one choice of freelancers because of its convenience and user friendly features. You can create a PayPal invoice and save it for later use, which is especially helpful if you have returning clients or use the same type of invoice repeatedly. Plus, PayPal is free to use and is even available for use on a mobile phone.
- Intuit Billing Manager: If you have a large freelance business and need to keep up with many different clients, then Intuit Billing Manager is an excellent choice. This app is made by the creators of Quickbooks, one of the leading financial apps online today. Intuit Billing Manager is specifically for processing credit card payments, however, and may not work with other payment methods, such as PayPal. The billing manager is also free for freelancers and other small businesses to use.
- Fresh Books: Fresh Books invoicing is an excellent choice if you have many clients, and need specific features such as mailing invoices to local business. Fresh Books is free to use if you have less than three clients, with a price range that goes up to $39.95 for unlimited clients. You can add access for other staff members for an additional ten dollars per month, as well.
- Simply Invoices: Simply Invoices is an affordable option that allows you to send invoices with your custom logo. For unlimited invoice templates, you will pay only $25 per month. If you only need a few invoices a month, then you can use Simply Invoices for free. The invoices you send are automatically saved, so you have complete access to your account history.
- Bamboo Invoice: If you are looking for free, then Bamboo invoice is the perfect choice. Bamboo Invoice is open source software that allows you to send unlimited invoices, and offers user friendly features.
- Ballpark: Ballpark invoices allow you to work with your team to keep track of invoices sent by multiple users. This is the perfect option for a team of freelancers who need to keep track of billing and payment information.
- Blinksale: Blinksale is available for only $6 a month, making it one of the most affordable of all invoicing apps for freelancers. The software is also compatible with Basecamp.
- Outright: Outright software allows you to import information from Shoeboxed and Fresh Books, and best of all, is free to use. Outright is used to keep track of your tax information and other financial information.
- Invoicera: Invoicera is more than just a invoicing app for freelancers, it also allows you to keep track of your spending and will automatically bill clients.
- CurdBee: CurdBee is a billing program that can be used to keep track of which invoice have been paid, which are pending, and where all your invoices stand at the end of the day. CurdBee is free for most users, but for those that need one of the features on the paid version, the fee is very inexpensive.

Melissa, this is a great listing and comparison of these invoicing apps. Thanks for writing it! I know any new freelancers, and maybe some experienced ones, will find some things they didn’t know about and want to try.
Some nice tool and probably must have one for Freelancers. Thanks for writing about it Melissa. I’m not a freelance writer so I share it with my followers.

PayPal, is really used worldwide, trusted by many and what’s even better about it is that it’s free. I don’t know much of the others but I want to try it especially Simply Invoices because it is affordable.
I have used Simply Invoices and it did everything I needed. If you need to create more than 5 templates per month, you will need to upgrade. They have three versions in addition to the free version.
Having that free version to get started with is great – especially for people who are just starting to freelance as they transition from a day job, or people who do most of their work for just a few clients.
I’m going to have to take a look at the Simply Invoices for my freelancing. I’ve been using PayPal, but I’m not totally happy with it. Maybe the others will be something up my alley. Thanks.
Except for paypal, it is a new thing for me. I think I will check it so I have other invoicing apps.

Those are some very great freelancing tools. I am also a freelance so I will be using some of them in my projetcs. Thanks for sharing them with us Melissa.
I have used most of the invoicing applications mentioned above. The one that stood from the rest is Invoicera. It had live support in their application also and i was able to receive live help from the support team while working around the application. Unfortunately it can not be explained how robust Invoicera is, you need to experience it. Simply Awesome!!!
Cheers!!!

Unfortunately PayPal is not available in our country, so we can’t take advantage of PayPal. Never heard about blinksale before.
Hey Ms./Mrs. Melissa, the only invoicing application/site that I’ve ever used was PayPal! I tried to use “AlertPay”, but I never finished the sign-up form, LOL!
Sincerely,
Thomas Anderson
